Mom's "Funeral Beans"

These beans have been made by Geraldine Rhodes for over 50 years and were so named as her sister jokingly said that Geraldine always made them when there was a death in the family of neighbors or friends.

Ingredients:
2 large (40 oz.) cans of Great Northern beans
1 lb. lean bacon, chopped
2 medium onions, chopped
1 (16 oz.) jar of Mrs. Schlorer's Turkey Golden Table Syrup

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a large roasting pan. Bake, covered, for one hour at 400°F and then turn oven to 325°F and continue baking until golden brown, stirring occasionally, for approximately 3 hours.
